SwiftSend

SwiftSend is a modern logistics and delivery platform connecting users with trusted local riders. It offers real-time live tracking, affordable pricing, and instant dispatching. Working in tandem with the Vendora marketplace, it handles the delivery ecosystem using a shared database and backend architecture.

The Challenge

Logistics in densely populated regions often suffers from a lack of transparency, unpredictable dispatch times, and poor communication between the customer and the dispatch rider. Our goal was to create an Uber-like tracking experience specifically tuned for lightweight package delivery and food logistics.

Architecture & Solution

SwiftSend was built to prioritize real-time data streaming and offline resilience:

• Real-Time Websocket Infrastructure: Leveraged Socket.io to establish persistent, bi-directional communication channels between the rider's mobile app and the customer's web interface. This allows for sub-second GPS coordinate updates.
• Shared Monorepo Backend: Built with a shared backend that integrates tightly with Vendora. This architectural decision eliminated the need for complex microservice API polling—when a Vendora order is finalized, SwiftSend's dispatch engine allocates a rider instantly based on geospatial querying using PostGIS.
• Progressive Web App (PWA): Engineered as a PWA, the customer-facing portal caches core assets, allowing users with flaky internet to still view their last-known delivery status.

Key Features

• Live Rider Tracking: Real-time map interface with live ETA calculation powered by Google Maps API.
• Geospatial Dispatching: Automatically assigns the nearest available rider based on a defined radius algorithm.
• Proof of Delivery: Secure OTP verification system ensuring packages are handed only to the intended recipient.

Technical Achievements

The platform handles over 10,000 concurrent websocket connections with minimal latency. By utilizing geospatial indexing in the shared PostgreSQL database, we reduced dispatch calculation times from 3 seconds to under 200 milliseconds.
